A certain
Wizkid fan
posted a prophecy on popular social media
forum, Nairaland and the post has since
generated a lot of buzz.
Check-Out the Prophecy below:
"This is a prophecy for Wizkid, God wants you
back, he wants to take back the talent he has
given you. He wants you to start singing for him.
Thus saith the lord. God's eternal salvation plan
confounds human logic. Humans expect salvation
to come in ways humans normally experience it
like through strong, powerful, authority figures.
God promises to bring salvation that will
transform the world's power structures. Please
this should be taken seriously, this is from me to
you Wizkid. You know I'm right, the dreams and
the strange sensation of awe you experience
most times, that's God, come to him and the joy
you think you have now will be smithereens
where his joy is."

‘Why I Can Never Marry A Poor Man –Empress Njamah Opens Up
Nollywood actress, Empress Njamah as with
many celebrities has been trailed by
different scandals.
Despite the
enormous
controversies that almost denied her the limelight,
she is still able to keep her head up.
In a recent interview, the actress reveals that she
can never settle down with a poor man.
See excerpts from the interview:
What's your dream man like?
Let me tell you something about life, I will not
come here today and tell you I want a God-fearing
man, he must be tall, he must be this, he must be
that. I have once said something about what I
want in a man, and then the person I fell in
love with was the exact opposite. You cannot
dictate feelings, you cannot dictate emotions,
that's why there's something called love at first
sight, you cannot tell.
I'm not going to clone a man that I want. There is
this thing called chemistry, once you see it, you
know it. I won't come here and tell you that he
must be tall and he must have six packs, I'm not
crazy about that, so basically what I want in a man
are what I'll probably see at that point and what'll
attract me at that point.
So you are saying you can settle for any man
whether rich or poor?
I'm not going to tell you what I want. But you get
into an expensive shop to pick up something
because you can afford it. You see something you
can afford, then you buy it but if you cannot afford
it, take a walk.
The goods are for someone that can afford it, that's
the best I can tell you. I will not settle for less, my
sister and that's the truth. People come and tell
you all sort of lies and want to praise themselves
and say "I can marry a poor man" the poor man no
know wetin him see, abeg!
I dey tell una say I am a real person, we all have
been through tough times, we all have paid our
dues one way or the other. So no poor man must
get close to me. Those who know the worth pay the
dues.

BOMBSHELL! I will cover my boobs when I’mold – Cosy Orjiakor
Like her or hate her, three things are bound to endear
you to Cossy Orjiakor. They are; her friendliness,
intelligence and boldness to discuss issues affecting
her personality as well as her acting career. These
attributes played out last week when Showtime
Celebrity ran into her, and later engaged her in an
interview. Cossy bares it all, dropping the bombshell
that men are at her beck and call. She also dropped
the hint that she will be getting married next year
and many more…
We learnt that you have insured your boobs for N256
million. Is it true?
It's not true. Sometimes, some of these bloggers just
cook up stuffs that are not true. But it sounds so
interesting, that's why I didn't want to confirm
whether it's true or not. Let the story just be.
Why don't you want to talk about it?
It's because the story is a fiction. Somebody just
cooked it up. I don't know anything about it. I didn't
tell anybody I'm insuring my boobs. It's something
that somebody just cooked up somewhere. The story
didn't generate from me neither did it generate from
my Twitter handle or Instagram.
*Cossy
But do you have the intention to insure your boobs ?
I might do it, or not. But I don't want to talk about my
boobs here.
Your face have been missing on the silver screen,
have you dumped acting for music?
I'd act when I am invited, and when the pay is
considerable. I wouldn't be put under pressure. At
least, I have done two movies this year. I can't go to
people's offices to beg for roles. When I was hungry, I
used to go to producers to beg for roles. But now, I
am no longer hungry.
Although, I am planning to come out with a TV reality
show. The show will hit the screen before the end of
February, next year. I have somebody who is helping
me to develop the concept. It is about the living
conditions of most Nigerians. I don't want to talk
much about it until it hits the screen.
Don't you think, you are being misunderstood by
your critics?
That's not my business what people think about me.
But it's my business what I think about myself. I feel
good, I'm happy, I am myself and I'm not a fake
person. Yet I have a lot of fans who love me. People
tend to pretend a lot. When you are simple and
down-to- earth, they will not want to identify with
you. I don't fake myself. Life is all about having fun,
and what is the best time for me to catch my fun
than now that I'm still young, and not when I'm old
and gone.
Are you still doing your music?
Yes, I'm still doing my music. Once in a while, I go for
private shows where I am well paid. But I have not
graced a big stage. I'm doing music for the love of it.
When you love something, it does not matter what it
take you to do it. I'm not in a hurry, one step at a
time. When I am in a mood to do music, I do it. I am
not doing music to make millions of naira or to
compete with anybody. I am doing music because of
the passion I have for it.
Are you working on any album at the moment?
I have some songs already and my video has been
released online. I featured Durella in my single.
Do you feel hurt each time, people address you as
queen of boobs?
That word was first used by BBC focus on Africa when
they described me as Queen of Boobs. I am okay with
whatever you choose to call me.
How often do you get angry?
I stock my house with food stuff. So, each time I'm
angry, I keep on eating and eating until I get
satisfied.
Is Cossy in love?
Now or before?
Both now and before?
At the moment, I have a lot of people that love me.
I'd fall in love. But when I dating someone, I hate to
make it a public affair. I can't even take a picture
with my man in public. But I can take pictures with
my fans. Anybody you see me pose for a shot is my
fan. I wouldn't even agree to share the same table
with my man at a function. This, for me, is a way of
avoiding people raising eyebrows.
Are you saying that you are not in love at the
moment?
I don't know! Anyway, I will be getting married come
next year.
You mean, you are getting married for real?
A woman get married when she is ready to get
married. I will get married next year or I will make a
baby next year.
Who is the lucky man?
I don't know.
What stands out among other celebrities?
I don't know, everybody is made in the image of God.
What do you do when you are not on set, or
performing?
Anything that makes me happy. Whatever I want I
get it. If I want a man, I can always get him. In fact,
men are the cheapest thing to get in life. I have a lot
of admirers. I can always get one if I so wish. When a
man say hi! And you reply him, you can always woo
him to yourself if you like.
Are women not cheap too?
A woman will run after you because of what she will
gain from you.
How many passes do you get per each passing day
from men basis?
If I'm in a mood to chat with a man, I do it
wholeheartedly. But you will hardly see me in the
company of a man. I don't want to give away myself
or make public exhibition of my relationship. I prefer
to pay hide and seek game.
Will the man in your life agree to your terms?
I don't know what you mean by the man in my life.
But the one I know will not like to make it public.
Do you always feel noticed or shy each time you
attend a social gathering?
Each time, I attend a function, I don't even feel that
people are looking at me. I will just catch my fun, but
whereby I'm not catching any fan, I will quickly leave
the place.
What's you kind of man?
It depends on what I want at a particular time. But I
like well built young men with flat tummies. I can
take pictures with them.
Have you been embarrassed before in connection
with your boobs?
I don't even give room for such things. Nobody can
walk up to me to do any nonsense. You dare not try
it. My boobs are real, full and fresh. When you see
good things, you appreciate them. But don't dare to
touch them. You know what is good. When I'm old
and my boobs are not firm any more, I will cover
them.
Is your boobs your greatest gift from God?
I don't know, life is the greatest gift.
What's the difference between now and when you
first joined Nollywood?
I'm older now and more wiser than when I first
ventured into acting. Then I used to dance for
Obisere's band, and there was this beautiful album I
was doing with them, before tongue started wagging
that I shouldn't be dancing for Obisere because of my
academic qualification.
That was how I abandoned the band. But right now, I
am older, I will return fire-for-fire to anybody that will
make me feel bad at any point in time. I don't keep
people with negative thoughts around me. I mingle
with people with positive minds.
Would you say life has been fair to you?
I'm living a life I have always imagined for myself. I
live well. God has been kind to me. I live in a
beautiful home. I have a dog and more over, I eat
whatever I want to eat. I get massaged whenever I
need it. Each time, I need to be massaged, I always
call up a friend who helps me out.
You love dogs a lot?
I have three dogs as pets. I call them different
names. One is called Caesar while the other is called
Gabriel and so on.
It was rumoured sometime ago that you made love to
a dog?
Have you watched the movie. If you have not
watched it then you have no right to ask me anything
about the movie.
I watched it mid-way!
Was I naked or not? When you make love to your
wife, do you go naked or you put on your clothes? So,
if I wasn't naked that's means I wasn't making love
to the dog. For me to make love to the dog, I should
be naked.
If you have the chance to come back to life, would
you still want to be Cossy?
I love myself, my boobs and my voice. My friensd told
me that my voice sounds very sexy. I also have this
smile of a baby. God has been so kind to me. At least,
I live in my own house in Lekki. I eat anything I want
to eat, and I don't seek for attention, I drive a posh
car. What else can I ask for? A husband or a baby?

Boko Haram kills 26 in fresh Borno attacks
SUSPECTED members of Boko Haram terrorists have
carried out a series of night attacks in Borno State
causing havoc and killing 26 people in the process.
This was even as reports emerged that the
insurgents abducted a French Roman Catholic,
Georges Vandenbeusch in northern Cameroon.
Vandenbeusch, who moved to the area two years
ago, was reported to have repeatedly ignored
warnings by the French authorities that the region
was dangerous. The Boko Haram insurgents in
Bdagu, Izge, Hartsa and Yazza villages in Gwoza,
Damboa and Askira-Uba Local Government Areas of
Borno State, ransacked houses and killed their
victims just as several hundreds were displaced from
their houses. About 40 houses were said to have
been set ablaze.
An unconfirmed report said that three of the
attackers were also killed when some neighbouring
villages of Dille, Lassa among others mobilized and
pursued the fleeing suspected terrorists to a nearby
bush in the area.
A source said in Bdagu Community that the attackers
had between Monday and Wednesday, this week
stormed the affected villages in two Hilux vehicles,
three buses and about 30 motorcycles armed with
AK47 rifles, and going from house to house to kill,
loot and burning some selected homes.
It was said that during the Bdagu night attack, about
40 residential houses and farmlands were burnt
down by the sect members. Source- Vanguard

Friends deserted me when I was sick – Paul Play Dairo
Bouncing back after a seven-year break, Paul Play
Dairo recalls the medical challenge that affected his
career, writes JAYNE AUGOYE
After a seven-year hiatus, ace music producer and
artiste, Paul Play Dairo, is working towards staging a
big come back. Having dropped a total of five singles
since March, he says the response has been massive.
In spite of the seeming lull in album sales, the RnB
star who says he is up-to- beat with current trends in
the music scene, still intends to drop a 'luxury'
album.
"The idea is basically to fill in the gap since my last
album and also sample people's opinion. Thankfully,
the online comments have been encouraging. So far,
I have recorded 20 songs and some of them have
already been released as singles. I am currently
tidying my gospel and each track has an element of
Nigerian flavor and pop.
"The bulk of the money is no longer coming from
album sales because these songs are already online
and people are downloading them. Music business is
now streamlined to performance and endorsement. I
am still going ahead with the limited edition album
which will be expensive because that way I will be
able to control and monitor the sales and
distribution," he discloses.
When Paul Play launched his way into the Nigerian
music scene in 1999, riding on the goodwill and
success of his late father, IK Dairo, he enjoyed solid
patronage. Within a short period, he also earned an
independent voice of his own, springing hit singles
that include Mosorire, Happy Day and Yes O!
In 2009, however, his career was threatened when he
fell ill in South Africa, while shooting some music
videos for his last album and had to be rushed to a
hospital. In his absence, the media was awash with
speculations over the nature of the illness. It was
rumoured that he had cancer, kidney failure to a
spiritual attack. Four years after, he has clearly
moved on, choosing not to dwell on the nature of the
ailment.
According to him, the near-death-experience has
taught him some lessons. He talks about a few of
them in a low tone saying, "It was taught to be
scared of God, and not to depend on man because
God is ultimate. You don't have to trust man, but
psyche yourself that people are close to you for one
reason or quality or the other. I lost many trusted
friends during my ailment and gained a few in the
process.
"There were some who said and did things that made
me say 'Oh, even you too', but you know it is part of
life that when things are down you lose your friends.
Right now, I am not afraid of anything. I am stronger
and can take whatever life throws at me."
The year 2014 is 'Paul Play Dairo's year', if
indications emerging from the soft spoken artiste are
anything to go by. For one, he intends to release a
Box Set- two albums of highlife and gospel music.
The third will be RnB.
He says, "It will be a limited edition because it is
going to be expensive.I wanted an album that people
will like. That's the reason for the long silence. My
management is considering working with a number
of new school acts like Inyanya and Wizkid. I am open
to work with any artiste, so I don't end up being an
island in the industry. I don't want to streamline
myself only to a group or set of people. I was taking
my time to do things right and face other things. I
have been able to keep up with the industry online
and the commendation I have been receiving ever
since is an indication that people have missed me
and want me back on the scene."
The one-time Globacom Ambassador adds that so
much has changed since his temporary exit from the
scene. He says, "The music industry has become
saturated. Today, everyone wants to sing so there is
limited space to get the desired publicity. But
artistes who have pedigree will always fit in, no
matter what friends," he explains.
While many artistes of his time, have found it rather
difficult to fit into the scene after being away for a
long time, Paul Play is optimistic that his fans will
embrace his return and warm up to him. He hinges
his belief on the fact that Nigerians now embrace
indigenous music when compared to the past.
"If you say it is difficult to come back and then give
up things will pass you buy. If the likes of Lionel
Richie and Stevie Wonder have stood the test of
time, why label yourself as old school? With a good
pedigree, people will respect you and with God you
can still make a comeback. I don't intend to stay in
music for a long time,'' he notes.

EFCC Arrests Gov. Sule Lamido’s Sons Over N10 Billion Money Laundering Fraud
Aminu Lamido and Mustapha Lamido, sons of
Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido were
arrested yesterday, November 14, 2013 by the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
EFCC. Dependable sources say they were picked
up by operatives of the Commission between 10
and 11.55pm in Kano and have been moved to
Abuja, the Commission's headquarters, where a
crack team of investigators will grill them.
Their arrest, according to a knowledgeable source,
is in furtherance of the investigation that
commenced in December 2012 when Aminu Sule
Lamido was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano
Airport en route Cairo, Egypt for failure to declare
the $50,000 he had on him.
Though Aminu has since been prosecuted and
convicted by a Federal High Court in Kano,
investigation as to how he came by the money
has led investigations to uncover a web of money
laundering in which billions of naira from Jigawa
state government accounts are funnelled into the
accounts of companies run by the Jigawa state
governor and his two sons.
Over N10billion is said to have been transferred
from Jigawa state government accounts into the
accounts in which Sule Lamido and his two sons
have interest from 2007 till date.
The Commission is said to have traced these
transfers to 10 companies where Lamido and sons
are directors and signatories to the account.
The companies include Bamaina Alluminium
Limited, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina
Company Nigeria Limited, Rawda Integrated
Services Limited, Speeds International Limited
and Saby Integrated Nigeria Limited.
The account of these companies received huge
cash inflow between 2007 and 2013, a period that
coincide with the tenure of Sule Lamido as
governor of Jigawa state. For instance in Bamaina
Aluminium where Sule Lamido and his two sons
are directors, investigations revealed that the
company's account controlled by Mustapha as
signatory received total credit of N1.52billion
between January 2010 and August 2013. It
recorded a total debit of the same amount, with
Mustapha and other companies in which Lamido
and his sons are directors, being the beneficiaries.
In the same vein, Bamaina Holdings Limited's
account with the governor as sole signatory
received a total of N1.19billion between February
2007 and July 2013. About N1billion was paid
from this account into accounts of companies
controlled by the governor and his sons.
Massive lodgements were also discovered in the
account of Bamaina Company Nigeria limited
controlled by Mustapha as sole signatory from
Bamaina Alluminium. Between January 2010 and
July 2013, the account received over N500million.
From the account of Rawda Integrated Services
Limited controlled by Mustapha, there have also
been massive movement of funds to another
company run by Sule Lamido, Speeds
International Limited. Speeds' account recorded a
turnover ofN2.2billion between January 2007 and
February 2010.
In the account of Rawda with a new generation
bank investigators discovered the movement of
N2.6billion to an unknown signatory. That account
recorded over one hundred withdrawals running
to over N600milion in cash between November
2007 and April 2008
Saby Integrated Services Nigeria Limited, another
company owned by Lamido received over
N730million from several Jigawa State
government agencies between June 2010 and
August 2010. Sahara reporters

I Can’t Forget The First Time I Made Love To My Wife – Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde’s Husband
Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde's
husband, Captain Matthew Ekeinde in a
recent interview with Entertainment Express
talks about his wife and their marriage. What is the secret of your 17 year old
marriage to Omotola?
I won't say we have been good because I am a fine
boy (laughs), but it is just the grace of God. I am so
lucky and also blessed by God to have married my
God given partner.
That is a very important thing about marriage, you
have to find and marry your God given partner.
That is why a lot marriages breakup. Some men
marry women because of their hips, their b**bs,
legs and some other side attractions. But after s*x
with her so many times, what happens next? Does
she have a good attitude, character or good human
relationship with others? I am not saying we are
perfect couple, we have our own differences but we
are compatible.
We have been married for over 17 years with four
beautiful kids. One thing that has been working for
us as a couple is that I always encourage her to be
who she wants to be. I give her full support always.
Lots of married women that are caught cheating on
their husbands could be traced to the fact that
some of their husbands don't allow them explore
their talents.
I encourage my wife and kids to be what they want
to be. Most of the influential men and women we
have in this world didn't even go to school. So it is
all about exploiting your talents. Some women love
acting but their husbands won't let them believing
that other men would touch or exploit them
sexually. It is all about discipline. Those that want
to cheat will cheat; it is all about self control.
So when you see your wife kissing on set,
you don't get jealous?
No! Not all. My wife tells me about her acting. Most
times she even complains that some actors she
acts love scenes with have mouth or body odour
that she can't wait to leave this scene. So I even
pity her on what she has to go through and endure
being an actress.
This acting thing is just some minute acts and that
is it. Will she follow the actor home? Lots of homes
have been broken because of too pressure on the
wife or even the kids.
For the 17 years that you have been married,
what are those special moments you can't
forget in a hurry?
Hmmm! Truly and honestly, I can't forget the very
first day I made love to my wife.

There’s no madness in our family – Chime’s in-laws
Governor Sullivan Chime's in-laws, including the
mother in-law, Madam Patience Igwe, on Tuesday
said there was no history of madness in their family
Madam Igwe told our correspondent on the phone
that no member of the family had a history of mental
illness.
"My daughter, Clara, is very okay and sound and her
husband, the governor of Enugu State, is also doing
well. Please leave us alone and don't call me again on
this matter," she said.
Governor Chime recently disclosed that his wife had
mental illness based on which he had restricted her
movement to the Government House.
Clara however left the Government House at the
weekend, vowing never to return to her husband.
At the Amauda Isuochi village in Umunneochi Local
Government Area of Abia State, where Mrs Clara
Chime hailed from, a male cousin to the governor's
estranged wife corroborated Madam Igwe's stand,
asking, "Do I look like someone who is mad?"
The cousin, who was spotting a pair of blue jean
trousers, refused to disclose his identity and
prevented other members of the family from
speaking to our correspondent.
"Do the people you are seeing here look like mad
people, or have you seen any mad person since you
came in?," he asked our correspondent.
He said, "Please, we don't have any mad person here
and nobody in our family has ever been mad. So, I
don't know where Enugu people got the story that
our sister is mad."
When asked, the security man at the Igwe's
compound, Dauda William, said he was yet to notice
any insane person in the family.
"Since I resumed work at the premises over four
months ago, the people I have been seeing around
are very normal and well," said William, an indigene
of Nasarawa State.

and nobody in our family has ever been mad. So, I
don't know where Enugu people got the story that
our sister is mad."
When asked, the security man at the Igwe's
compound, Dauda William, said he was yet to notice
any insane person in the family.
"Since I resumed work at the premises over four
months ago, the people I have been seeing around
are very normal and well," said William, an indigene
of Nasarawa State.
24-yr-old man butchers mum, buries parts in shallow grave
YENAGOA — The riverside town of Oloibiri in Ogbia
Local Government Area of Bayelsa State was thrown
into mourning, Sunday, when a 24-year-old man,
identified as Godsgift, suspected to be mentally
unstable, butchered his mother and buried her
remains in a shallow grave.
The deceased mother of four, aged 67, was identified
as Mrs Rose Jonny.
It was gathered that the woman was killed in her
sleep with a machete by her son who dragged her
butchered body through the window and buried her
in a shallow grave at the back of her house.
The tragic incident, according to a community
source, occurred at about 9.30 p.m.
Though the claim that the man is mentally unstable
could not be verified, he was said to have told the
mother that she would not see the next day.
According to a source: "At about 9.30pm, he was
reported to have crept into the mother's room and
butchered her in her sleep.
"He took her bloodied body out of the room through
the window and dragged her to the back of the house
where he dug a shallow grave, dumped her body and
covered it with sand."
It was learnt that neighbours became suspicious the
next day due to the unusual silence from the
deceased's house.
According to sources, the suspicion was further
fuelled when it was discovered that her door was
locked from inside and several knocks on the door
were not answered.
Another son of the deceased was reportedly
summoned by neighbours and they forced the door
open, only to see the entire room splashed with
blood.
The neighbours and other children of the deceased
were said to have traced the blood stains to a shallow
grave at the back of the house where the body of the
woman was found.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer,
Mr. Alex Akhigbe, confirmed the incident, saying the
suspect has been arrested and the case transferred
from the Ogbia Police Station to the Criminal
Investigation Department (CID) for investigation.

Iyayi Killed By Kogi Governor’s Convoy
SaharaReporters has further confirmed that
Festus Iyayi, a well-known Nigerian novelist and
activist academic, was killed when a car in the
convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada,
rammed into his vehicle near Lokoja in Kogi State.
A police source as well as an eyewitness told
SaharaReporters that Mr. Iyayi died instantly at
the scene of the ghastly accident. Mr. Iyayi was on
his way to Kano to attend a meeting of the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)
whose members have been on strike since July.
The union's meeting in Kano was called to decide
on a possible calling off of the strike and a return
to teaching.
With today's accident, Governor Idris has further
consolidated his reputation as having one of the
most reckless convoys in Nigeria where drivers
attached to governors and other top officials are
known for driving dangerously. In late December
2012, Governor Idris's convoy was also involved in
a deadly accident that claimed the life of his aide
de camp. Mr. Idris was hospitalized at the National
Hospital, Abuja where he was treated for serious
injuries.
In a brief telephone conversation today, Kogi's
Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, confirmed that
the governor's convoy was involved in an accident
earlier today. But Mr. Awoniyi said he had not
obtained the details of how the accident
happened, telling our correspondent that he was
away in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, on
official duty.
In the early and mid-1980s, Mr. Iyayi broke out of
the confines of his academic discipline and
emerged as one of Nigeria's most radical writers
with such novels as Heroes, Violence, and The
Contract.
Mr. Iyayi studied economics and business
management in the old Soviet Union as well as in
the UK, and became a career-long professor of
business at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
A fearless, outspoken member of ASUU, he was at
one time a leader of the union's chapter at
UNIBEN before becoming the group's national
leader in 1986 during the dictatorship of General
Ibrahim Babangida. In the early 90s he was
elected as the President of the Committee for the
Defence of Human rights (CDHR).
His death will be seen as the biggest individual
casualty of ASUU's prolonged strike as well as the
history of accidents caused by the deranged
driving by convoys traveling with Nigerian state
governors.
ASUU President Nasir Fagge confirmed his death
to SaharaReporters. He said the sad news was
broken to the union a few hours ago.
A lawyer in Abuja told SaharaReporters that he
hoped Mr. Iyayi's family would sue Governor Idris
for failing to restrain the recklessness of drivers
attached to his convoy. "This madness by the
convoys of governors will not stop until citizens
affected by it start rising to say a big no," the
lawyer said. www.saharareporters.com/news-page/iyayi-killed-kogi-governors-convoy

Real Life Magneto, Man Can Attach Metal to His Body
This madcap claims to be able to stick metal
objects to his body, making him the real-life
Magneto!
X-Men villain
Magneto has
the ability to control metal and have them stick to
his body using psychic ability, and while Miroslaw
Magola doesn't want to end the human race, he
does seem to share similar abilities.
Without using glue or any other sticky helpers, the
German wonder claims to use psychic brain powers
to attach objects to various parts of his body.
His mental powers are so strong he can even jump
around with drinks cans, pots and pans or cutlery
stuck to forehead, hands or chest.
Rather than being born with these 'powers',
Magola said he researched the phenomenon of
psychic energy, and exerts mind over matter –
'connecting' himself to objects.
NO GLUE: Magola denies using adhesives to stick
objects to his body
The 55-year-old said: "I found out I could train
myself to manipulate lifeless objects as I studied
for my degree in the early 90s.
"I have since spent years perfecting the technique
and exploring further into human magnetism.
"I can defy gravity because I load myself with
energy and – like moving a limb – can make
objects do as I wish like a real life magnet.
"I am determined to develop my unique powers
further in the future and I'm currently working with
telepathy and healing to see how psychokinetic
energy can be put to a use that will benefit
mankind."
ABILITIES: The boffin is hoping to win a large cash
prize for his abilities
Despite wanting to change mankind for the better,
Magola does have one eye on a $1 million prize –
that has been unclaimed for decades – for anyone
that can prove they have supernatural powers.
The One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge was
launched by famed magician and sceptic James
Randi in 1964 for anyone who can show evidence
of faith-healing, telepaths, psionics, dowsing,
precognative psychic friends with astral bodies,
past life remembrance, or spectral manifestations
of any kind.
Magola said of the prize: "I have been waiting
many years, training and researching techniques,
in order to challenge for the $1million prize.
"I want to do it live on TV and cannot wait to get a
reaction from an audience and prove to sceptics
who claim it is all a
hoax."
MANKIND: The German wants to use his abilities to
help humans
The father-of-one denies he is faking his abilities,
and says that anyone can master the abilities if
they put their mind to it.
He added: "Magnetic people prove with mind
power they are capable of lifting objects of
different materials off the floor without aid.
This can be done with the head or palms of the
hands to hold objects vertically, horizontally or in
circular movements.
Some magnetic people are also capable of lifting
objects from the floor with the palm of a gloved
hand or even with talcum powder on the skin.
You don't have be a scientist to see the difference
in the demonstrations between magnetic people
and sceptics, who attempt to fool people uses
cheating techniques."
X-MEN: The powers are similar to hose of comic-
book villain Magneto
Some parapsychologists share Magola's view,
believing that people can train their mind in order
to affect the physical world.
Metaphysics expert Dr Ellie Crystal said: "Everyone
has the potential to be able to be telekinetic.
Telekinesis is created by higher levels of
consciousness. It cannot be created by 'wishing it'
to happen on the physical level.
The energy to move or bend an object is created by
a person's thoughts created by their subconscious
mind."

Depression 'makes us biologically older'
Depression can make us physically older by
speeding up the ageing process in our cells,
according to a study.
Lab tests showed cells looked biologically older in
people who were severely depressed or who had
been in the past.
These visible differences in a measure of cell ageing
called telomere length couldn't be explained by other
factors, such as whether a person smoked.
The findings, in more than 2,000 people, appear in
Molecular Psychiatry.
Experts already know that people with major
depression are at increased risk of age-related
diseases such as cancer, diabetes, obesity and heart
disease.
This might be partly down to unhealthy lifestyle
behaviours such as alcohol use and physical
inactivity.
But scientists suspect depression takes its own toll
on our cells.
Telomere shortening
To investigate, Josine Verhoeven from the VU
University Medical Centre in the Netherlands, along
with colleagues from the US, recruited 2,407 people
to take part in the study.
More than one third of the volunteers were currently
depressed, a third had experienced major depression
in the past and the rest had never been depressed.
The volunteers were asked to give a blood sample for
the researchers to analyse in the lab for signs of
cellular ageing.
The researchers were looking for changes in
structures deep inside cells called telomeres.
Telomeres cap the end of our chromosomes which
house our DNA. Their job is to stop any unwanted
loss of this vital genetic code. As cells divide, the
telomeres get shorter and shorter. Measuring their
length is a way of assessing cellular ageing.
People who were or had been depressed had much
shorter telomeres than those who had never
experienced depression. This difference was
apparent even after lifestyle differences, such as
heavy drinking and smoking, were taken into
account.
Furthermore, the most severely and chronically
depressed patients had the shortest telomeres.
Dr Verhoeven and colleagues speculate that
shortened telomeres are a consequence of the body's
reaction to the distress depression causes.
"This large-scale study provides convincing evidence
that depression is associated with several years of
biological ageing, especially among those with the
most severe and chronic symptoms," they say.
But it is unclear whether this ageing process is
harmful and if it can be reversed.
UK expert Dr Anna Phillips, of the University of
Birmingham, has researched the effects of stress on
telomere length.
She says telomere length does not consistently
predict other key outcomes such as death risk.
Further, it is likely that only a major depressive
disorder, not experience of or even a lifetime of mild-
to-moderate depressive symptoms, relates to
telomere length, she said.

Curing Leukaemia With HIV: Breakthrough On Treatment For Cancer?

this 4 minute video shows an inspiring story of a
young girl, Emma who was cured of Leukaemia by
injecting her with HIV-modified T-Cells which were
then capable of attacking the cancer cells.
It is important though to get the correct information
on how it was actually done...
No, doctors did not "inject HIV into a dying
girl" to treat her cancer
Posted on June 25, 2013 by Kat Arney
We've recently noticed an inspiring short film
circulating on the internet about how doctors in
the US have apparently cured a child of
leukaemia by "injecting her with HIV".
But while the actual science behind this story is
fascinating, the treatment is still at an extremely
experimental stage and has only been tested in a
handful of patients.
And while we're always keen to welcome exciting
experimental cancer treatments, we also want to
clear up a few misconceptions about what the
research actually involved.
To be absolutely clear, the doctors in the video
did NOT inject HIV – nor a "deadly disease" – into
a child.
So who are these people, and what did they
actually do?
Turning the immune system on cancer
The research comes from Professor Carl H. June
and his team in Philadelphia in the US. He's a
highly-respected scientist working on cancer, HIV
and the immune system, and has published his
work in hundreds of papers in many leading
scientific journals over several decades.
The immune system is an incredibly hot topic in
cancer research. Cancer is an illness that starts
from our own cells going rogue within us. Our
immune system is pretty good at recognising and
attacking foreign invaders – such as bacteria or
viruses – but it doesn't do so well at tackling
tumours.
A huge amount of research effort around the
world is focused on trying to understand why the
immune system doesn't recognise and fight off
the disease. And there's also a lot of work aimed
at harnessing this powerful force for treating
cancer, and this is leading to new ways to treat
the disease.
Professor June and his team are taking an
interesting approach to this challenge. In
particular, they're developing new ways to turn
the power of the immune system on leukaemia –
a cancer caused by white blood cells (usually B
cells, also part of the immune system
themselves) growing out of control.
They've developed a technique in which they
collect special 'killer' immune cells, called T cells,
from a cancer patient. These are then
'reprogrammed' in the lab using a modified virus,
which is very good at smuggling genes into the T
cells.
In this case, the researchers added genes
carrying instructions that tell the T cells to make
a new protein called a "chimeric antigen
receptor" – this lets them lock on to molecules
found on the surface of cancer cells, killing them
in the process.
These reprogrammed T cells are then injected
back into the patient, where they grow and
multiply, creating an army of killer cells to fight
the disease.
At least, that's the theory.
From the lab to the clinic
The Philadelphia team has been working on this
technique for many years, developing it first in
the lab then testing it in animals with promising
results. They're now taking this a step forward,
into clinical trials with cancer patients.
The situation described in the video, where a
little girl called Emily Whitehead (referred to as
Emma in the film) undergoes modified T cell
treatment, isn't the first time this approach has
been tested in people. There's more than a
decade's worth of data looking at the safety and
effectiveness of virus-modified T cells in clinical
trials for treating people with HIV as well as
cancer.
In 2011, Professor June's team treated three
adults with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)
with virus-modified immune cells as part of a
small, early-stage clinical trial. All three had
undergone several rounds of chemotherapy, yet
their cancer kept coming back. For two of them,
their cancer completely went away after the T cell
therapy – something known as "complete
remission". This was an important and
impressive result, although one that was
probably over-hyped in the media at the time.
Further results from the trial – totalling 10 adult
patients with CLL and two children with a
different type of leukaemia (acute lymphoblastic
leukaemia, or ALL) were announced at a scientific
conference at the end of 2012. The researchers
claimed that nine out of the twelve patients had
been treated successfully – presumably three of
the adult patients are from the 2011 paper, while
the two children are likely to be from the paper
we'll discuss shortly.
And in March this year, a team at Memorial Sloan-
Kettering Cancer Centre in New York published
results testing a similar approach in five adults
with ALL. In all five, the cancer vanished,
although four of them went on to have further
treatment so it's hard to say whether this therapy
was solely responsible for curing them. And for
the final patient, the cancer came back once the
reprogrammed T cells had died off in their body.
From what we can tell, the girl in the video –
Emily/Emma – is being treated as part of another
small-scale, early-stage clinical trial for children
with leukaemia and lymphoma, testing the virus-
modified T cell treatment. This is primarily a trial
to find out whether the treatment is safe, rather
than how well it works.
Results from two children with ALL were recently
published in a paper in the New England Journal
of Medicine. Of the two kids, one seems to have
had a complete remission – we can only assume
this might be Emily, though she isn't mentioned
by name in the paper. Sadly, the other child
didn't do so well. The cancer came back just two
months after the T cell treatment.
Obviously, for Emily and her family this
experimental therapy has been nothing short of a
miracle. But from the handful of cancer patients
treated so far, it's clear that it doesn't work for
everyone – something that's rightly pointed out
in the film.
The therapy also causes significant side effects,
dramatically described in the video. Several of
the patients who receive the modified T cells
seem to experience what's known as a "cytokine
storm" – a potentially fatal immune reaction.
Subjecting weakened cancer patients to such a
barrage is highly risky, so researchers need to
proceed with great caution as the clinical trials
continue recruiting patients.
How does HIV fit into the picture?

boldly states that the doctors are injecting "HIV
into a dying girl", and that she received a "deadly
disease". This is a serious bending of scientific
truth, and very misleading.
In fact, the researchers are using a type of virus
called a lentivirus to reprogramme the T cells.
This family of viruses – of which HIV is a member
– are particularly skilled at sneaking into cells
and embedding their genetic code within the
cell's DNA. Unsurprisingly, this makes them a
good vehicle for smuggling in the genetic
instruction telling T cells to attack the cancer.
According to the video, Professor June says that
the virus used in these experiments was
originally derived from HIV, and we hear the film-
maker asking off-camera "So you're taking the
HIV virus and infecting healthy cells with it to
help kill cancer?" However, the virus has
undergone significant genetic tinkering, meaning
that it is no longer harmful (as June does go on to
explain). And it's arguable whether it should even
be referred to as HIV at all, given how much it has
been altered.
And the researchers didn't inject any virus into
anyone. As we've explained, they took immune
cells out of the patient, treated them with the
virus in the lab, then injected the modified cells
back in.
To sum up
Broadly speaking, we feel that this film is
inspiring, and we're always happy to see the
fruits of promising new therapies for cancer. But
to promote "injecting HIV" as a treatment is
misleading.
One child surviving 'incurable' cancer is an
amazing event, but there is a lot more work to be
done to find out how best to use this new
technology. At the moment it's still highly
experimental and expensive. It's only being
trialled in a very small number of patients,
primarily to make sure it is safe, and so far we've
seen that it doesn't work for everyone.
In the case of the child whose cancer came back
after treatment, the researchers found that her
cancer cells had somehow stopped carrying the T
cells' target molecule. So it's likely that other
targets will need to be identified, to make the
treatment more effective for more patients in the
future.
On a positive note, there's no reason why this
type of treatment should be restricted to cancers
affecting the immune system (namely leukaemia
and lymphoma), although they're much more
accessible to the killer T cells. Researchers
elsewhere are investigating how to target a range
of different types of cancer with this approach.
There are several similar therapies being tested
in the lab and in clinical trials around the world,
including in the UK. And Cancer Research UK
scientists are finding out whether harmless
genetically-engineered viruses could be used as
therapeutic vaccines, training the immune
system to seek and destroy cancer cells.
It's still early days for these exciting new
approaches and there are many hurdles to jump,
but we're looking forward to the day when they
can be used to treat patients on a wider scale.

this 4 minute video shows an inspiring story of a
young girl, Emma who was cured of Leukaemia by
injecting her with HIV-modified T-Cells which were
then capable of attacking the cancer cells.
It is important though to get the correct information
on how it was actually done...
No, doctors did not "inject HIV into a dying
girl" to treat her cancer
Posted on June 25, 2013 by Kat Arney
We've recently noticed an inspiring short film
circulating on the internet about how doctors in
the US have apparently cured a child of
leukaemia by "injecting her with HIV".
But while the actual science behind this story is
fascinating, the treatment is still at an extremely
experimental stage and has only been tested in a
handful of patients.
And while we're always keen to welcome exciting
experimental cancer treatments, we also want to
clear up a few misconceptions about what the
research actually involved.
To be absolutely clear, the doctors in the video
did NOT inject HIV – nor a "deadly disease" – into
a child.
So who are these people, and what did they
actually do?
Turning the immune system on cancer
The research comes from Professor Carl H. June
and his team in Philadelphia in the US. He's a
highly-respected scientist working on cancer, HIV
and the immune system, and has published his
work in hundreds of papers in many leading
scientific journals over several decades.
The immune system is an incredibly hot topic in
cancer research. Cancer is an illness that starts
from our own cells going rogue within us. Our
immune system is pretty good at recognising and
attacking foreign invaders – such as bacteria or
viruses – but it doesn't do so well at tackling
tumours.
A huge amount of research effort around the
world is focused on trying to understand why the
immune system doesn't recognise and fight off
the disease. And there's also a lot of work aimed
at harnessing this powerful force for treating
cancer, and this is leading to new ways to treat
the disease.
Professor June and his team are taking an
interesting approach to this challenge. In
particular, they're developing new ways to turn
the power of the immune system on leukaemia –
a cancer caused by white blood cells (usually B
cells, also part of the immune system
themselves) growing out of control.
They've developed a technique in which they
collect special 'killer' immune cells, called T cells,
from a cancer patient. These are then
'reprogrammed' in the lab using a modified virus,
which is very good at smuggling genes into the T
cells.
In this case, the researchers added genes
carrying instructions that tell the T cells to make
a new protein called a "chimeric antigen
receptor" – this lets them lock on to molecules
found on the surface of cancer cells, killing them
in the process.
These reprogrammed T cells are then injected
back into the patient, where they grow and
multiply, creating an army of killer cells to fight
the disease.
At least, that's the theory.
From the lab to the clinic
The Philadelphia team has been working on this
technique for many years, developing it first in
the lab then testing it in animals with promising
results. They're now taking this a step forward,
into clinical trials with cancer patients.
The situation described in the video, where a
little girl called Emily Whitehead (referred to as
Emma in the film) undergoes modified T cell
treatment, isn't the first time this approach has
been tested in people. There's more than a
decade's worth of data looking at the safety and
effectiveness of virus-modified T cells in clinical
trials for treating people with HIV as well as
cancer.
In 2011, Professor June's team treated three
adults with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)
with virus-modified immune cells as part of a
small, early-stage clinical trial. All three had
undergone several rounds of chemotherapy, yet
their cancer kept coming back. For two of them,
their cancer completely went away after the T cell
therapy – something known as "complete
remission". This was an important and
impressive result, although one that was
probably over-hyped in the media at the time.
Further results from the trial – totalling 10 adult
patients with CLL and two children with a
different type of leukaemia (acute lymphoblastic
leukaemia, or ALL) were announced at a scientific
conference at the end of 2012. The researchers
claimed that nine out of the twelve patients had
been treated successfully – presumably three of
the adult patients are from the 2011 paper, while
the two children are likely to be from the paper
we'll discuss shortly.
And in March this year, a team at Memorial Sloan-
Kettering Cancer Centre in New York published
results testing a similar approach in five adults
with ALL. In all five, the cancer vanished,
although four of them went on to have further
treatment so it's hard to say whether this therapy
was solely responsible for curing them. And for
the final patient, the cancer came back once the
reprogrammed T cells had died off in their body.
From what we can tell, the girl in the video –
Emily/Emma – is being treated as part of another
small-scale, early-stage clinical trial for children
with leukaemia and lymphoma, testing the virus-
modified T cell treatment. This is primarily a trial
to find out whether the treatment is safe, rather
than how well it works.
Results from two children with ALL were recently
published in a paper in the New England Journal
of Medicine. Of the two kids, one seems to have
had a complete remission – we can only assume
this might be Emily, though she isn't mentioned
by name in the paper. Sadly, the other child
didn't do so well. The cancer came back just two
months after the T cell treatment.
Obviously, for Emily and her family this
experimental therapy has been nothing short of a
miracle. But from the handful of cancer patients
treated so far, it's clear that it doesn't work for
everyone – something that's rightly pointed out
in the film.
The therapy also causes significant side effects,
dramatically described in the video. Several of
the patients who receive the modified T cells
seem to experience what's known as a "cytokine
storm" – a potentially fatal immune reaction.
Subjecting weakened cancer patients to such a
barrage is highly risky, so researchers need to
proceed with great caution as the clinical trials
continue recruiting patients.

EXPOSED: Omotola paid $650,000 to earn a slot on Times 100 influential list??
So, I was surfing the internet like I always do and I came across this.
It’s an allegation that claims our very own Omosexy – Omotola Jalade Ekeinde; bought her way into the 2013 Times most influential list with a whooping $650,000 which is over a 100 million naira.
The article was written by a blogger, so I’m just going to let you read how he put it “Before we get into it and stars or celebrities with mild relevance start coming at me with a bullet-less gun thinking they have a shot, let’s get one thing out of the way; This is a gossip type website. Anyone in this industry, including myself will be subject to being put on blast. What you see is what you get! This is all for your own entertainment purposes… Now moving on.
An insider who happens to work closely with the most loved actress squealed details about Omotola making 2013 TIME Magazine 100 (Most Influential People in the World) list, stating that the actress paid a whooping sum of 650,000 dollars (which is over a 100 million naira if converted) to get a slot on that list.
Now I don’t know how true this is but I won’t find it amusing if she paid to make the list. Rich people (especially Nigerians) tend to pay for a lot of things (like Grammy, MTV, Bet award tickets which comes in different packages but the one they mostly go for is the full package with the hotel covered, access to Clive David’s pre-grammys party, red carpet, a seat next to a celebrity and after party, Forbes list, etc) to get recognised or live that ‘party with celebrities’ lifestyle.”

Amaechi vs Omehia: S-Court fixes Feb 7 for judgment
All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Rivers State, Mr. Celestine Omehia, has the legal right to appeal the Federal High Court judgment, which held that Governor Rotimi Amaechi's tenure ended on May 29, 2011. A five-man panel of the apex court, adjourned for judgment after parties, adopted their briefs of arguments in the consolidated appeals that were filed by Governor Ameachi and a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Chief Cyprian Chukwu. Both Ameachi and Chukwu, told the Supreme Court panel headed by Justice M. Muntaka-Coomassie that the Abuja Division of the Appeal Court, erred in law, when it granted Omehia the leave to appeal against the High Court judgment, even though he was not a party in the substantive suit that culminated to the appeal. It will be recalled that Chukwu had in 2010, applied to a Federal High Court in Abuja, asking it to interpret the Supreme Court judgment which in 2007 removed Omehia from office and declared Amaechi as the governor of the state. He asked the court to determine whether governorship election should be held in Rivers during the general electiond of April or later, since Amaechi took the oath of office in October 2007 and not May 29, when all other governors took the oath. The high court held that the Rivers State governorship election should be included in the April 2011 general elections. After the high court decision, Omehia, who was not a party to the high court proceeding, applied to the Court of Appeal to be allowed to join in the matter as an interested party, contending that he was a party in the apex court judgment that was interpreted by the high court, adding he would be adversely affected by the Supreme Court judgment. Meantime, a new twist was added to the case, yesterday, when the PDP, which had initially opposed Omehia's request to be granted leave to challenge the high court judgment, made a U-turn, and urged the apex court to allow Omehia to seek the sack of Governor Ameachi from office. Counsel to the party, Chief Olusola Oke, argued that under section 243 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, the appellate court, rightly granted Omehia the leave to appeal the high court judgment as an interested party, contending "a person, who is affected or likely to be affected by the outcome of any proceeding is an interested party."
I will not hand over polio to the next government – Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday pledged that
his administration will do everything possible to
eradicate Wild Polio Virus in Nigeria next year saying
that he will not hand over polio to the in coming
government in 2015.
Speaking yesterday at an award ceremony for best
performing state governors from the six geopolitical
zones on the eradication of polio, President Jonathan
also called on political leaders not to relegate the
fight against the eradication of polio to the
background because of campaign for the next
elections.
He particularly commended Bill Gates of the Bill and
Melinda Gates foundation for his efforts in
eradicating polio in Africa and announced the
conferment of the award of the Commander of the
Federal Republic (cfr) on him as an appreciation from
the government and people of Nigeria.
The president stated: "apart from helping us in fight
against Polio and provision of life saving
commodities, Bill Gates is also assisting us in
agriculture.
"Like Dangote mentioned there is no reason we
should not eradicate polio by 2014. Let me assure
you that the federal government is totally committed
to eradicating polio. We promise that we will work
hard because we don't want to handover polio to
another government in 2015.
"With the support of all stakeholders present here I
believe we will succeed in our commitment to
eradicate polio.
"I charge you all to be so committed especially as the
elections are coming. In fact from the analysis I was
just briefed now I'm really surprised that in 2011
there was lapse and it was attributed to the
elections, that during campaigns for elections we the
politicians think more about winning the elections
and forget about other things. I charge you all that
we must work together to make sure that the
2014/2015 will not create any kind of gap in our
commitment to eradicate polio.
"In our local government and states that have
suffered polio, it should be part of our campaign, it
should rather be part of our campaign instead of our
election to create a problem, our elections should
enhance our commitment.
"We should all feel ashamed that we are being
accused of exporting polio to neighbouring
countries" the president.
He commended the traditional rulers for their roles in
helping the government meet its target of
immunising Children against Polio
For those that won the award, the president charged
them not to rest on their oars but to ensure that nore
is done to justify their awards.
In his speech, the Minister of Health Professor
Onyebuchi Chukwu said as at 2012 the whole of
northern Nigeria was being infected by reported
cases of Wild Polio but as at now only three states
kano, Borno and Yobe are of the greatest concerns.
He said since November last year there has been no
reported cases of transmission of the Type A polio
various adding that "we have have reduced it by 50
per cent though we have recently had 51 cases in
Borno, Kano, Yobe and Bauchi states.
He listed the challenges facing the the fight against
polio as non-accessibility to children due to insecurity
and accountability which necessitated the
involvement of Local Government chairmen.
He said in order to sidestep the security challenge in
Borno state " we have formed permanent health
team, the hit and run strategy during the period of
calm to reach children with successive doses over
one to two days bursts; Intensified routine
immunization with free MNCH services and
essentials drugs; Firewalling Borno/Yobe borders
with health teams and health camps at borders,
checkpoints and nomadic camps in all LGAs".
He urged the President to direct rapid information
sharing between JTF and the programme on
accessibility/security in security-compromised areas.
The governors that won the award were Captain Idris
Wada of Kogi for North Central, Dr Olusegun Mimiko
of Ondo state for the south West, Kashim Shettima of
Borno for North East, Liyel Imoke for south south and
Peter Obi of Anambra for south East.

My abductors asked for N100m, I offered N1bn– GUO Motors boss
The Chairman of G. U. O. Motors Limited,
Chief Godwin Okeke, yesterday, commenced his
evidence-in-chief at an Onitsha High Court in
Anambra State, presided over by Justice Chudi
Nwankwo, in respect of his abduction by kidnappers
in Onitsha on Sunday, August 23, 2009.
Okeke who spoke under oath, shortly after the court
granted a motion to file and serve additional prove of
evidence with respect to one of the suspected
kidnappers, Alexander Onyinanya, filed by the
prosecution counsel, Chris Ajugwe with Mrs. N. D.
Wilcox.
Godwin Okeke
He narrated his encounter with the kidnappers at the
All Saints Anglican Church Cathedral, Onitsha when
he went for a Sunday worship with his wife, driver
and some family members.
However, counsel to the first and third accused
persons, O. U. Uduma and J. N. Okongwu, did not
object to the prosecution counsel's motion to file and
serve additional prove of evidence with respect to the
third accused, Onyinanya.
How he was abducted
Led in the evidence by his counsel, Okeke stated that
he went for 7 a.m. service which ended at about 10
a.m, adding that between 10.30 and 11 a.m., his wife
mounted the steering of his Nissan Amanda Spots
Utility Van, SUV, and was driving towards the church
gate when suddenly, gunmen blocked the car with a
bus in front and a Mercedes Benz car at the rear.
Okeke told the court that before he could ask
questions, the gunmen started shooting sporadically,
adding that even though he managed to disarm one
or two of them, they shattered his left leg, over-
powered him, drove away his wife and family
members before bundling him into his SUV and
zoomed off with the abductors' vehicles following.
He further told the court that they passed through
Awka Road and at Limca Road, they met a traffic
gridlock but his abductors shot sporadically into the
air to scare the commuters before they continued
their movement up to Nkpor junction where he said
they met some policemen and exchanged fire with
them.
Two vehicles snatched
He said: "At Umuoji Road, my abductors discovered
that their tyres were deflated during the exchange of
fire with the policemen and they quickly jumped out
of the vehicles, blocked the road, snatched two other
vehicles from their unsuspecting owners and
transferred their arms and ammunition, including 9
AK 47 riffles, rocket launchers, machine guns and a
big Ghana-must-go bag filled with loaded magazines
and live cartridges into the snatched vehicles.
"They continued their journey and drove through
Alor, Adazi-Ani and Adazi-Enu. On getting to
somewhere between Adazi-Enu and Neni
communities in Anaocha Local Government Area of
the state, they drove into a bungalow, rounded up
the occupants, who were mainly children, locked
them up in one of the rooms and kept me inside the
living room.
"I removed my shirt and tied my bleeding leg as part
of measures to control the blood gushing out from
the bullet wound. At a stage, I became thirsty and
requested them to give me water to drink. Two of the
abductors, Emeka Eze and Anthony Ifeanyi Okafor
were with me while others were outside monitoring
movements."
He said the duo with him advised him not to drink
water because of his bullet wound but he insisted on
drinking and eventually they gave him the water
which he drank.
He said: "I overheard those outside asking the
detained children where they kept oil, salt and other
condiments because at that point, they had started
cooking breadfruit meal for lunch.
The third accused was my ex-employee
He said after cooking, they presented the food and he
ate with them. He said among those outside, two of
them, a tall and short one wore masks, adding that
he could discover that the tall one, Alexander
Onyinanya, the third accused with mask was his
former employee
"I could identify Onyinanya because he limps as a
result of an accident he had when he was working for
me. I was the one who paid his hospital bill when he
had the accident.
I offered them N1bn, instead of N100m
"After eating the breadfruit meal, they praised me for
my courage and for accepting their food, unlike other
victims who usually refuse to eat during their
captivity."
He said they now asked him to get ready for
negotiation to which he paid attention.
"They told me that Chief Paul Okonkwor, Managing
Director of Pokobros Group West Africa Limited paid
them N70 million as ransom when they kidnapped
him, while Chief Anthony Enukeme, Managing
Director of Tonimas Oil Limited paid them N80
million during his own time and told me to pay them
N100 million.
"I replied them promptly that Okonkwor and
Enukeme are millionaires, while I am a billionaire,
and offered them N1 billion, instead of N100 million.
"The offer gave them special joy as they now
dropped their weapons by the side, relaxed and
asked me how and when the money would get to
them to which I told them that the money was in the
bank."
At this stage, Justice Nwankwo ordered him to stop
for the day till the next adjourned date.
The court now adjourned the matter to November 14,
26, 27, 28, December 2, 3, 4, 5 and 9, this year for
accelerated hearing and possible dispensation.

Immunisation implementions slow – Bill Gates
Founder of Microsoft and Co-Founder of the
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates
yesterday in Abuja launched the National Routine
Immunisation Strategic Plan, (NRISP).
Launching the plan, Gates said, "nothing is more
important in health in Nigeria than giving
immunisation to children and persons in order to
prevent diseases."
Gates lamented that the manner at which
immunisation programmes have been implemented
had been very slow, stating that, "vaccination has
not operated the way it should be."
Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, said the
new plan will scale up government efforts in
preventable diseases through efficient immunisation
programmes.
Chukwu observed that while diseases like measles
and polio have continued to posed challenges,
government is putting in place a strategic framework
that will bring about optimum results.
Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote
urged the National Assembly to expedite action in
passing the health bill, as well as ensure proper
funding of the health sector.
Representative of GAVI Alliance, Dr Mercy Ahun said
the organisation has "committed to the
immunisation programme in Nigeria and expect a
significant increase with additional new vaccines and
health systems support in the new future."
"Nigeria is still home to the wildest inequalities in
vaccination coverage by household wealth with more
than 9 children vaccinated from the richest
household compared with just one child from poorest
children vaccinated."
Executive Secretary, National Primary Health Care
Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Ado Muhammad
said the new plan provides details and data based on
the best strategies needed to implement an
accountable and effective immunisation programme.
The event was attended by the Sultan of Sokoto, His
Eminence, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar, UNICEF, WHO,
Save the Children among others.

Egypt footballer suspended over Morsi sign
One of Egypt's top football clubs has excluded
its player from a competition for publicly
showing support for ousted President
Mohammed Morsi.
Al Ahly said Ahmed Abdul Zaher would not go to next
month's Fifa Club World Cup in Morocco after he
gave a four-fingered salute on Sunday.
The striker was celebrating his goal in the final of the
African Champions League, which Al Ahly won 2-0.
The gesture has become a symbol of solidarity with
Mr Morsi.
It commemorates a Cairo sit-in by supporters of the
Islamist president which was violently dispersed by
the security forces in August, leading to the deaths of
hundreds of people.
Mr Morsi - Egypt's first democratically elected
president - is currently on trial on charges of inciting
the killing of protesters during clashes in the capital
last year. He was ousted in July.
'Grave insult'
Abdul Zaher celebrated with the four-finger gesture
(Rabaa) after scoring the second goal in Al Ahly's
2-0 win over South Africa's Orlando Pirates.
"Yes, I raised the sign of Rabaa," he was quoted as
saying by Egypt's football website FilGoal.
"But I didn't mean political excitement to any one
side or fan. All I meant to do was to remember the
dead, whether in Rabaa, any other citizen and even
policemen.''
On Monday, Al Ahly officials said he would be
excluded from the squad for the Morocco
competition.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Sports Minister Taher Abu Zeid
said the player's "grave insult" could not go
unpunished.
The minister said he was confident that both the club
and the Egyptian Football Association would take
action.
Abdul Zaher is the second leading Egyptian
sportsman to be penalised for publicly backing Mr
Morsi, the BBC's Orla Guerin in Cairo reports.
Last month, champion kung fu fighter
Mohammed Youssef
was banned from competing at home and abroad for
two years after using the same gesture at a medal
ceremony.
The move added to growing concerns about freedom
of speech under Egypt's new military-backed
government.
